Westside west and Miguel Pawn Shop

The northwest side of Las Vegas has its own distinction, called Historic West Las Vegas, or similarly to the in-game equivalent, Historic Westside. In our world, it consists of the neighborhoods enclosed by I-15 on the east, Highway 95 to the south, and Business Highway 95 to the west. Locals call it the “spaghetti bowl” due to the map of the area sort of looking like a bowl.

Location Details

# 20 / 320 – Westside / West entrance – Although Westside in the real world is fairly centrally located, in the game it is tucked all the way to the west, near the real-world Highway 215 that circles the north and west sides of town. This would be in line with both the in game and real world equivalent proximity to Mt. Charleston, which is due west.

# 21 – Miguel’s Pawn Shop – There are a few paw shops dotting the area, none of which bear a name other than normal chain or franchises. The only “Miguel” business was an auto repair shop, which I could not locate once I arrived, so maybe it has closed. Going strong were neighbors “Cheetah Topless Club” and “Peepland” however.

# 26/224 – South/North cisterns – I found an “Old Cistern Court” comprised of residential houses in the western side of Vegas, but nothing of note beyond that. However, on the way to Devils Throat, about a half an hour from arrival, you can take a short detour and head towards Whitney Pocket. Here you can find a landmark called “the Cistern” which is an abandoned cement dam built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s. It is a true “cistern” and a cool place to see if you are in the area anyway.

# 225 – Casa Madrid Apartments – Although there is no equivalent in West Las Vegas, there is an identically named location near Irvine, California – the location of Obsidian’s headquarters. So perhaps that is where they gleaned the idea from. In Vegas, however, especially West Vegas, there are no shortage of brothels.
